Alligator vs crocodile

The scale pattern.

Alligator scales are rounder and softer-edged; crocodile scales are more angular and often larger toward the belly. Under the same finish they still read differently.

The feel.

Alligator is generally softer to the touch — a longer break-in but a warmer wear. Crocodile keeps a slightly firmer face and holds a polish longer.
